Thursday October 9, 6:00 am ET
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Empire Film Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets: EFGU - News; "Empire Film") (http://www.empirefilmgroup.com) reports unanimous support and enthusiasm among key USA theater chains for the December 5th release of "Local Color," a coming-of-age drama starring Armin Mueller-Stahl, Ray Liotta, Ron Perlman, Trevor Morgan, Samantha Mathis and Julie Lott, written and directed by George Gallo. The December release date was established from feedback provided by ten of the nation's top theater circuits following their review of the film and an evaluation of the competitive schedule. Empire plans to release "Local Color" in most of the top 40 markets.
`"The successful test release of the film established its commercial strength and has generated tremendous interest," said Eric Parkinson, CEO of Distribution for Empire. "We feel that our field promotions in each key market will enable us to achieve similar per-screen results and position the film for a broader expansion."
"Local Color" was released last October at the Harkins Camelback Theater in Scottsdale, Arizona. During the initial weekend of the test, the film generated an impressive $7,100 gross, and continued playing for four additional weeks with progressively larger grosses. Ultimately, the film generated over $32,000 at this single location, indicating a growing word-of-mouth and solid commercial potential.
"It's a terrific movie that critics and audiences love," said Dean Bornstein, Empire CEO. "We have a lot of faith in the movie, and hope to draw special attention to the award-worthy performance of Armin Mueller-Stahl as lead actor."
Empire is promoting two special event screenings of "Local Color" in anticipation of the December 5th release. Los Angeles-area media are encouraged to attend a special event screening on Sunday, October 12th at the Rialto Theater in Pasadena, 7:15 pm. The $10 admission will be waived for active members of the media and one guest each.
